This week was like a roller coaster in many ways. I was
either sitting glued to my work computer for hours on end or pushing myself
more than ever at the gym (paying for it today with head to toe body aches!);
Stressing over my current job or jumping around the room in excitement as I try
to get my blog and Run for Type 1 off the ground, and then finally
(thanks to
my random spot of gardening) relaxing and sitting back only to remember I
totally forgot to go to a friend’s house warming last night! It was quite an
inappropriate time to miss her housewarming too, on account of me randomly thinking
of her a lot and texting her mid party to say we should catch up(!) and all
because I was sitting there thinking I wasn’t being very social of late....
ahhhh It would seem I forgot to turn the lights on upstairs yesterday!
Great things happened this week though, which is why I’ve
marked it as an improvement on last week. After about a year, I FINALLY went to
my local Diabetes Centre and met with a Diabetes Educator to touch base and get
reacquainted with the place. My HbA1c wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going
to be, though still terrible. I got a few tips to try but I must admit I’m not
convinced yet. My weekly blood sugar average has been higher than the last
three weeks, but I will continue to give it a try this coming week.
Diabetes Queensland also included me in their monthly member
newsletter, U-Turn, which went out early this week. This was fantastic. Thank
you to everyone who is now visiting my blog, signed up for Run for Type 1, or
sent through emails. I am very appreciative of all the support and encouragement and
look forward to meeting and continuing to communicate with many of you over the
coming months. Run for Type 1 is continually evolving so there are plenty of
ways to get involved if you’re interested, just drop me an email, facebook or
twitter, I will get back to you as soon as possible.
I’m really looking forward to a great week ahead, for many
reasons:
- It’s the last week my partner and I are doing long distance. YAY. He will finally be home after living in Brisbane for four months, and it’s about time too!
- I now know I am never skipping exercise Monday morning...it sabotages my whole week!
- I’ve consciously learnt (and noted!) the effects of working consecutive 10 hour days without proper breaks and skipped gym sessions....and I won’t be repeating this! We all do it, I know. But if I was realistic, my current job doesn’t deserve that sort of self sacrifice. I am confident I can better sort my work load and have organised a staff meeting to discuss our current work flow.
- I’m working on a media release, sponsor kit and marketing material for Run for Type 1 to be distributed from late next week onwards. If anyone would like some information for their workplaces etc, just let me know!
Positive thinking tells me this coming week is going to be
even better than the last.
I hope yours is wonderful too.
