Starting a 'Low Carb' Life

In January 2015 I decided to commit to a low carb lifestyle.

I wont lie, this was a really tough change for me; marred by quite the few ups and downs. Including suffering immense fatigue in which I thought I'd give the whole 'ridiculous' notion away. I now know that what I should have done, was slowly wean myself off carbs, not jump straight off the cliff!

But apparently I'm the sort of personality that 'ain't got time for that'.. and so I dove right in.

I went from 150-250g carbs a day to 30-40g a day. And that didn't work for me.

Fatigue hit with immense force and I even ended up taking time off work. Then I suffered ridiculously high blood sugars for what seemed like a never ending amount of days, recovering just in time to jet off on my honeymoon, eating and drinking as I merry well wanted - as you must on your honeymoon!

Lets just say my AIC was unacceptable! But I took it in my stride knowing that I was about to make a huge switch over from MDI to the pump. And with that change I have set myself a much more achievable goal:

An average of 50g carbs per day, while still maintaining the same amount of physical activity per day (if not more)
and a much better A1C by June 2015.

So I'm focusing more on a lower carb lifestyle for now, as opposed to Low-No Carb....And this is what that goal prep looks like in a table:

Updates to come!
